Daily Question 114

ID and connect.

PS. there are 2 levels to the connect

1) Zeus makes love with Io, painting by Antonio da Correggio c. 1531

2) The Abduction of Europa by Rembrandt, 1632

3) The Rape of Ganymede, by Rubens

4) In Jupiter and Callisto by François Boucher, Zeus takes the form of Artemis/Diana

The connect is the Galilean moons. Another level could be that, given that the moons are named after the lovers of Zeus, all the paintings depict Zeus having his evil way with them.

Donno what 2 levels ur looking for...

1) Jupiter & Io by Corregio - Io
2) The Abduction of Europa by Rembrandt - Europa
3) Rape of Ganymede by Rubens - Ganymede
4) Jupiter and Callisto by Francois Boucher - Callisto

All 4 Galilean moons of Jupiter.

Great Question! Had to tineye the paintings, could only vaguely remember seeing the Ganymede one..

How come out of the 6 questions since the mail from Shortage about esotericism in questions at IITM quizzes, 4 have been about paintings? Coincidence?

in order.......
1)Jupiter and Io
2)The Abduction of Europa
3)The Rape of Ganymede
4)Jupiter and Callisto

These are the 4 moons of Jupiter that Galileo first found with his telescope.
They are also the 4 lovers of Zeus.
