Hedy Lamarr, of Delilah fame, from Samson and Delilah.
Along with George Antheil, who incidentally composed 'A Jazz Symphony', she invented and patented an early version of frequency hopping used a piano roll to change between 88 frequencies and was intended to make radio-guided torpedoes harder for enemies to detect or jam.
Hedy Lamarr. She co-invented the technique of frequency hopping in order to prevent torpedoes from getting jammed. The same technique is now used in cross-spectrum communications.

Hedy Lamarr who along with composer George Antheil filed for a "Secret communication system" patent that can be considered the precursor to modern frequency hopping and spread spectrum communications. Their original idea was to use it to prevent enemies from jamming torpedo signals.
That is Hedy Lamarr. She, along with someone else, came up with the frequency-hopping idea used in today's communication systems such as WiFi.
